Heru---Mākoha-o-Manawanui_1.jpg

Heru - Mākoha o Manawanui

This is the first Heru I have made in about 20-something years... I have named it Mākoha o Manawanui.

This is to indicate the qualities of being tranquil, undisturbed, gentle, compassionate, kindly, considerate, amiable, placid, and kind-hearted, while remaining steadfast, stout-hearted, tolerant, patient, unwavering, resolute, persistent, committed, dedicated, unswerving, and staunchly positive.

The actual method to achieve this is hidden within the esoteric symbolism held within this Taonga.

Heru - Mākoha o Manawanui.

A Manaia is a symbol of good luck and spiritual protection.

Dear friend, Kia Ora

This Heru is named Mākoha o Manawanui.

As such, it is appropriate to leave clues and various markers to point the way...

This double Manaia refers to an esoteric union that can only be accomplished through our spiritual Journey. This Taonga speaks of the ultimate purpose of our human life.

This small poem endeavours to express some layers of the meaning while maintaining the sanctity of the teachings that lead us to the path of realisation…

Like a dream
Beyond the veil, above, below, without, within,
All unites at hearts delight, Enter the jewel,
As above, so below,
Nature reveals, Truths gentle wisper pervades,
Peace at last,  Peace at last,

The koru pattern on the inside of the carving represents the flow of inner energy. They also are symbolic of a journey of discovery and a peaceful mind. The koru symbol is common in New Zealand and is inspired by the unfurling of the new fern fronds. Meanings associated with this are new growth, new beginnings and awakening.

The carving comes with a four-plait cord which features a fully adjustable slip knot system to enable to a perfect fit around any size neck. It also comes with an officially signed certificate of authenticity and has been registered in my database of work.

I sincerely hope you enjoy the carving and over time come to fully understand all the various layers of meaning imbued in this creation. I wish you and your family the deepest peace and happiness.
