Kaiwhakaara Marama - Light Giver

Power, strength, wisdom, nourishment, and spiritual growth....

Dear friend, Kia Ora.

I have called it Kaiwhakaara Marama - Light Giver. This is indicative of letting the wisdom fire protect you and give you light to guide your way.

The koru pattern on the outside of this Taonga symbolises a protection circle of fire. Fire is one of the four key elements of life. It is our inner light as well as a living symbol of the Divine fire. It has great power to burn away the dross and fog that clouds our mind and wisdom.

The hole represents looking and going ‘within’ to find all of the answers we desire. Generally, as this pendant hangs around our neck, the hole is located at our heart level indicating that we can look deep into our heart for the answers.

The koru sprouting up from the top of the hole symbolise the new growth and flourishing of our spiritual life. The Koru arising from the bottom of the carving represent the foundation upon which this is build upon. It leads us on a meaningful journey towards ultimate happiness.

The motif on the back of the carving represents the esoteric knowledge, 'As above, so below'. A pure mind gives rise to a pure world. The koru represents blessings upon our five senses and mental consciousness. It is our connection to deeper truth. When what is above and below are united.

The koru symbol is common in New Zealand and is inspired by the unfurling of the new fern fronds. Meanings associated with this are new growth, new beginnings, and spiritual awakening.

The carving comes with a four-plait cord which features a fully adjustable slip knot system to enable to a perfect fit around any size neck. It also comes with an officially signed certificate of authenticity and has been registered in my database of work.

I sincerely hope you enjoy the carving and over time come to fully understand all the various layers of meaning imbued in this creation. I wish you and your family the deepest peace and happiness.
