Levi_finished carving

I have just completed this commissioned bone carving for a special and strong man Levi Vaoga.  Levi represented New Zealand 11 times at the World Strong Man competition! He was also the face of Mitre 10 for many years (Big is Good).

Bone carving - Neart-a-fatu

The name of the carving is ‘Neart-a-fatu’. The meaning of this name is as follows: ‘Neart’ is the Scottish Gaelic word for Strength. It means “intensity of a force or power” and “the quality of being strong”. ‘A-fatu’ is Samoan for “of Heart”. So, over all this represents not only physical strength, but also the strength of character and strong determination which comes from a great heart. 

Each aspect of this carving represents the life of Levi Vaoga. This is the front.
