Manaia - Good Fortune

This bone carving is a Manaia is called 'Good Fortune'. The seeds of good fortune that are being carried by this Mania are flowing from the mouth in the form of Koru. This represents the unfolding of good deeds we have done in the past and as a result, we can experience peace and happiness now and in the future.

Manaia - Good Fortune

A Manaia is a symbol of spiritual protection.

The Manaia, or spiritual guardian, is the profile of a Tiki. This is symbolic of being half in this world and half in the spirit world. Manaia can be adapted with other symbols and stylized to communicate different aspects, or meanings.

This Manaia is called 'Good Fortune'. The seeds of good fortune being being carried by this Mania are flowing from the mouth in the form of Koru. This represents the unfolding of good deeds we have done in the past and as a result, we can experience peace and happiness now and in the future.

The koru symbol is common in New Zealand and is inspired by the unfurling of the new fern fronds. Meanings associated with this are new growth, new beginnings and awakening.

The eye is an inlay of Brass. This is symbolic of strength, will power and strong determination. The golden color of the eyes represents having the eye of good luck, and thus attracting good fortune where ever we go.

Hei konā rā (goodbye)
