Arotahi Toa – Warrior focus

640.00

Dear friend, Kia Ora

This Koruru (face of the guardian) is named Arotahi Toa. Toa means Warrior, or to be brave, bold, victorious, experienced, accomplished, adept, competent, skilful, capable. Arotahi means focus, concentration on. Therefore, the name indicates a warrior with strong concentration and focus.

It is a mixture of Pounamu and Bone. I have gone for a semi-matt finish on the Pounamu which contrasts nicely with the bone. It is Kawakawa Pounamu which is the strongest and darkest of the stones and contains some black flecks that bring a noticeable character. It's named after the native Kawakawa plant which was traditionally used for its culinary and medicinal properties. This symbolises strength of the spiritual warrior.

The markings on the Koruru tell a story. Within the forehead is a bridge over the third eye region. This symbolises bridging the gap between here and the spiritual realms. The patterns on the nose rise to meet the downward arrow. This depicts the secret methods to receive blessings that empower our mind.  Above and either side of the eyes are wave like korus supported by 14 small markings (seven either side). These symbolise the interconnections of our being to the wider universe. The reflections of out mind.

The markings under the eyes symbolise the characteristic of effort. With effort we can achieve anything.

Inside the mouth are subtle markings that symbolise pure speech. By this I mean hearing beautiful sounds, superior instructions, oral wisdom, and speech that creates a joyful and meaningful life.

The back contains a symbolic depiction of a cascading waterfall. Along with the copper inlay between the Pounamu and bone, it depicts the conducting, channelling and creation of great power.
