Taurikura horowai - cascading prosperity & good fortune.

Dear friend, Kia Ora

This contemporary Taonga depicts a cascading underground waterfall that flows deep into the earth. It is named Taurikura horowai which means cascading prosperity & good fortune.

At one level, this represents the ecological connection of the water and mountains, land, rivers and the sea. All synonymous with Aotearoa, land of the long white cloud.

At a deeper level, it is an analogy or metaphor for our spiritual, or mystical journey inwards.

Everyone wishes for happiness. This wish unites us all. People have different methods to try and achieve this. Some methods we agree with, some we do not. However, imbedded within the meaning of this Taonga is the hidden or secret oral instructions given to achieve this goal. These instructions are held within the various symbols and overall structure of this design. Therefore, they depict the method to awaken our highest potentials.

On the back there are three inlays of Pāua. The large one symbolises deepest nature of our mind which is very pure and subtle. The remaining Pāua inlays represent the two other levels of our mind. So together it symbolises the inner journey towards manifesting the innermost nature of our being. Pure, blissful and able to benefit others effortlessly.
