Dear friend, kia ora

This very simple taonga is named: i mua, i tenei wa, ka tae mai. It contains three pāua inlays set in between two copper inlays.

This Taonga is a pondering of time. The three pāua represent the past, present, and future. The essential concept is that the past and future are contained in the present. Hence the three inlays are contained within the copper.

How are the past and future contained in the present? Well, the past no longer exists, only its effects. What we are experiencing now can only come from what was generated within the previous moment. The future is not yet in existence because it is yet to come. Therefore, our present moment contains the potentials for our future experiences.

In other words, what we do right now counts. Even a small change now can have a large impact later.
