Titihaoa - shout with joy

This bone carving is called 'Titihaoa' which means shout with joy.

The hole represents looking and going ‘within’ to find all the answers we desire. Generally, as this pendant hangs around our neck, the hole is located at our heart level indicating that we can look deep into our heart for the answers.

The Koru designs also have significance. The koru symbol is common in New Zealand and is inspired by the unfurling of the new fern fronds. Meanings associated with this are new growth, new beginnings, and spiritual awakening...

The Koru designs also have significance. The koru symbol is common in New Zealand and is inspired by the unfurling of the new fern fronds. Meanings associated with this are new growth, new beginnings, and spiritual awakening.

These two koru represent the balance of wisdom and compassion which are both needed to attain ultimate happiness.  Both koru terminate at the Pāua 'eyes'. These symbolise our wisdom eyes opening.

There is also the ambiguity of the carving also looking like an abstract face shouting for joy having found the great happiness of inner peace.

The motif on the back of the carving is our connection with the divine. When what is above and below are united.

This piece comes with an officially signed certificate of authenticity and has been registered in my database of work.

The carving also features a four-plait cord with sliding knots to allow for an adjustable fit around your neck.

Hei konā rā (goodbye)
