Wisdom eye - Great Voyage

This carving is part of the Wisdom Eye Koru series of carvings. It is called 'Great Voyage'. This is symbolic of being able to transform ourselves if we are unhappy, into someone who is happy.

At a basic level, it represents the inner journey which functions to open our 'wisdom' eyes. The ‘eye of wisdom’ is represented by the inlay of Paua shell. The eye has a natural 'pupil' in the inlay formed by the curve of the shell created through the way it has been sanded...

Wisdom Eye - Great Voyage

Joy, happiness, new growth, new beginnings, and spiritual awakening....

The eye has a natural 'pupil' in the inlay formed by the curve of the shell created through the way it has been sanded.

The inner journey of discovery leads to a sense of profound joy. This inner journey is represented by the Koru flowing into towards the centre of the eye.  It is our connection to deeper truth.

The markings in between the koru represent that which connects us to all things.

The koru details also symbolise that there are various paths that are not leading to the centre of wisdom and that although the journey may not be a straight line, if we perceiver inwards, we will reach our final destination.

The small 'notch' at the top of the koru, symbolises one of the profound realisations of universal truth and as a result of realising this truth, there is no turning back. The final resulting bliss and fulfilment is inevitable.

On the back of the carving is another koru. This represents our freedom to choose to remain as we are or change.

The koru symbol is common in New Zealand and is inspired by the unfurling of the new fern fronds. Meanings associated with this are new growth, new beginnings, and spiritual awakening.

The carving comes with a four-plait cord which features a fully adjustable slip knot system to enable to a perfect fit around any size neck. It also comes with an officially signed certificate of authenticity and has been registered in my database of work.

I sincerely hope you enjoy the carving and over time come to fully understand all the various layers of meaning imbued in this creation. I wish you and your family the deepest peace and happiness.

Hei konā rā (goodbye)
