Wisdom eye - Moehewa roto Moehewa - Dream-within-the-dream

This carving is part of the Wisdom Eye Koru series of carvings. It is called ‘Moehewa roto Moehewa’ - 'Dream-within-the-dream'. This is symbolic of a spiritual awakening and opening our wisdom eyes. Thus, finding the path that leads to deep inner peace and happiness.

This simple carving has several meanings at different levels. At a basic level, it represents the inner journey which functions to open our 'wisdom' eyes. The ‘eye of wisdom’ is represented by the inlay of Paua shell. The eye has a natural 'pupil' in the inlay formed by the curve of the shell created through the way it has been sanded.

In this carving, this is wide open...

Wisdom Eye - Moehewa roto Moehewa’ - 'Dream-within-the-dream'

Joy, happiness, new growth, new beginnings, and spiritual awakening....

Dear friend, Kia Ora.

In this carving, this is wide open.

The inner journey of discovery leads to a sense of profound joy. Hence, we find what we ultimately wish for. This inner journey is represented by the Koru flowing towards the centre of the eye. There the front design illustrates the esoteric knowledge, 'As above, so below'. A pure mind gives rise to a pure world. The koru represents blessings upon our mind. It is our connection to deeper truth. The markings in between the koru represent that which connects us to all things.

The motif on the back of the carving is our connection with our ultimate divine nature. When what is above and below are united. The koru symbol is common in New Zealand and is inspired by the unfurling of the new fern fronds. Meanings associated with this are new growth, new beginnings, and spiritual awakening.

The carving comes with a four-plait cord which features a fully adjustable slip knot system to enable to a perfect fit around any size neck. It also comes with an officially signed certificate of authenticity and has been registered in my database of work.

I sincerely hope you enjoy the carving and over time come to fully understand all the various layers of meaning imbued in this creation. I wish you and your family the deepest peace and happiness.
