Eye of Wisdom - New Life_1.jpg

Wisdom eye - New Life

This carving is part of the Wisdom Eye Koru series of carvings. It is called 'New Life'. This is symbolic of being able to transform ourselves if we are unhappy, into someone who is happy.

At a basic level, it represents the inner journey which functions to open our 'wisdom' eyes. The ‘eye of wisdom’ is represented by the inlay of Paua shell.

The inner journey of discovery leads to a sense of profound joy. This inner journey is represented by the Koru flowing into towards the centre of the eye.  It is our connection to deeper truth. The markings in between the koru represent that which connects us to all things.

Joy, happiness, new growth, new beginnings, and spiritual awakening....

On the back of the carving is a another koru in the shape of a spade. This represents our freedom to choose to remain as we are or change. Sometimes we have to dig deep into ourselves and create a better future. In order to find water, sometimes we need to dig a deep well to access the spring of clean pure water.

The koru symbol is common in New Zealand and is inspired by the unfurling of the new fern fronds. Meanings associated with this are new growth, new beginnings, and spiritual awakening.

The carving comes with a four-plait cord which features a fully adjustable slip knot system to enable to a perfect fit around any size neck. It also comes with an officially signed certificate of authenticity and has been registered in my database of work.
