Tomairangi o te ata - Morning Dew serries

$145.00

Dear friend, Kia Ora

This Taonga is part of the Tomairangi o te ata - morning dew series.

It is a Tomairaki (Tōmairangi) which is the reminiscent of a dew drop. It is associated with the following poem gifted to me to share with you by the very esteemed late Kaumātua and Tohonga Rev’d Maurice Manawaroa Gray MNZM.

“Ka patapata iho taku whakaakoranga āno he ua, ka maturuturu iho taku kupu ano he tomairangi (tomairaki), me te ua punehunehu ki runga i te tipu hou”.

This translates to: My teaching drops like rain, my words trickle forth like dew and the misty rain on new shoots.

As such, this is an expression of great wisdom. Wisdom that guides us to search for the truth. With truth comes freedom, hope and peace.

The inlay of pāua symbolises the eternal fruit of the Tapu Wairua. While the koru below this represents new life. On the back there is a representation of a flame containing the koru. This symbolised the unity of life with the Atua.
